UTS instituted its emergency protocols just before 10am on 27 November when a crane on the Broadway building site caught fire.
There were no injuries and all students and staff in affected areas, in particular UTS Building 10 were evacuated safely. Emergency services quickly took control of the situation. The building site where the incident occurred was secured and the area closed to the public, staff and students and people visiting the Broadway campus.
Reparations on the Broadway Building site progressed to the point on Wednesday 12 December where the university could regain full access to Building 10.
Lend Lease removed barriers demarcating the exclusion zone in Building 10 as soon as NSW Police gave the go-ahead, allowing for business as usual in all of Building 10 as of 13 December.
Wattle Street was reopened at around midnight on the 12th.
